Real world name Rick. Call sign NightHawk (or NightHawk1867). Flying in Digital Combat Simulator DCS and Microsoft Flight Simulator MFS. Enjoying it immensely. Also interested in Arma3, Squad, Cities Skylines. In the real world I have lifetime passion for aviation. Other interests include photography, military affairs, mental health, law and justice and occasional writing. Over-educated and addicted to coffee and workouts.

I’ve been into aviation since childhood and was lucky enough to earn a VFR small plane licence and a glider pilot licence with the Royal Canadian Air Force cadet program. The VFR flying was in a Cessna 152. After a long time away I’m now returning to aviation albeit in the flight simulation world. Really enjoy it thought. Flying Diamond aircraft, TBM 930 and King Air is a lot of fun and within DCS I have started flying the A4-E Skyhawk.

I chose the name NightHawk in honour of RCAF 409 Squadron formed during World War II and served in Great Britain, France, Belgium, Germany. The 409 flew Bolton Paul Defiants, Beaufighters, Mosquitos. After the was the squadron flew CF-100 Avro Canucks, CF-101 Mcdonnell Voodoos. Later the squadron was disbanded and reformed in 2006 flying CF-118 (F-18) Hornets out of Cold Lake Alberta. Lest We Forget.

In Digital Combat Simulator I will try to fly in RCAF and RAF colours whenever possible. In Microsoft Flight Simulator I will fly Canadian, British, Irish and other Commonwealth flights.

Thanks, Rick. Call sign ‘NightHawk’ or ‘NightHawk1867’ depending on where you find me in social media.
